North Coast Classic Final Rosscarbery

On Saturday evening, 3rd September, the birds were race marked and loaded unto the transporter under the supervision of Paul O,Connor , Damien Farrell and Trevor Hughes . Kenny Glass did the catching and Sean inspected  every pigeon  before passing them unto the markers . Willie oversaw saw the whole process , checking and sealing all compartments in the transporter  .Our convoyer John Edgar then set off on the long journey to Rosscarbery . Our final will take place this Sunday from Rosscarbery 265 miles and we wish all those competing the best of luck . The weather forecast looks favourable at present and we are hopeful of a successful race .We will be having our usual barbecue and everyone is welcome . Our pools for the final are £2 , £3 , £5 , £10 ,£15 , £5 nom , £10 nom . All pools are unlimited . Todays  Hotspot winner , Maggies Dream Team is the first pigeon to win Two Hotspots in the North Coast Classic series , so a hearty congratulations goes to the Small sisters on a fantastic achievement . Hotspot 5 Roscrea

Sean has decided because of a dodgy forecast for Sunday to hold Hotspot 5 from Roscrea 157 miles on Friday 28th . He then intends to give the youngsters  a few trainers leading up to the North Coast Classic Final on September 4th . The youngsters had a 25 mile trainer today and will have a 40 miler tomorrow . Congratulations to our Hotspot 4 prize winners

  Our hotspot 4 winner was Brophy Lofts with a youngster bred by Paddy McGuire of Cabra RPC  Dublin  that Brophy lofts and Paddy purchased from Gerald Delaney ,Oroory Stud . Brophy Lofts won their club last week from Pilmore Beach with a youngster bred from the same dam . Congratulations Brophy Lofts and to our other prize winners in Hotspot 4 .

Hotspot 5

After much deliberation Sean has decided to cancel this weeks hotspot to give the birds a chance to fully recover from their exertions on Sunday past .  He hopes that everyone understands  that his decision has been taken in the interest of both the youngsters and their owners . He intends to give the birds a few trainers to restore their confidence and then on to hotspot 6 on Sunday 28th August which will have double prize money .

Hotspot 4 returns

A returns update is posted on our results page . We have had 9 more returns today taking us up to 157 .  We have reported birds which are being collected in Dublin tomorrow and will update when they are delivered to us . Sean is also collecting some this evening in Belfast and Ballymena and these will be added to our returns list .

Update on Hotspot 4 Kildare

We have had 33 more returned today making our total to date 148 . There have been evidence of a raptor strike in 4 of todays returnees and we have had quite a few reported from Waterford ,Wexford ,Wicklow ,Dublin , Armagh ,Newry  and Dromore suggesting that the peregrine has had a go at them .Sean would like to thank Bridget McCrudden , Fran Cullen , Dave Ward , Rose Mulholland , Willie Reynolds and Jim Branniff   for all their help in retrieving these reported birds .

Hotspot 4 Kildare Report

Sorry we have to report we have had a disaster today with only 115 youngsters home from todays entry of 363 .  We expected the birds around the 3 hr mark, but  it was another 40 minutes before the first ones arrived and we suspected that this was going to turn out bad . We do not know what happened and  as the convoyer said it was good at liberation ,with the birds clearing immediately and heading north .
