News
What a weekend it has been here in Northern Ireland with local organisations experiencing heavy young bird loses with bad conditions.
Here at the NCC the second Hotspot scheduled for last sunday was postponed due to in climate weather conditions and a race was to take place on Tuesday 2nd August.
Sean would like to apologise for the problems which this might have incurred but the birds must always come first.
Conditions turned out to be good so I'd like to thank Sean for not getting caught up with the pressure in getting them to the race but for taking the birds welfare into consideration first.
The race turned out to be very good with a lot of happy people in attendance and also ringing Sean in congratulating him on a great decision.
As usual for these races everything starts early at the loft with the preparation in making sure every detail doesn't go amiss.
Every single bird is examined before being scanned for the race and any that are not physically fit or in top health are removed and the owner informed.
Once all the birds had been hampered it was off to the liberation site in Monaghan for the second time for Hotspot number 2.
I must give a mention here to Donny in doing an excellent job in the transportation of the birds and of course keeping the local ladies entertained at the liberation site in the grounds of Monaghan Hospital.
A number of people had turned up to watch the liberation and word came through to the office after all weather checks that everything was perfect so the decision was made to release the convoy at 13.10.
The birds were released and did a half turn and headed straight for the north and we're gone in seconds.
A large crowd had gathered at the lofts to watch for the birds and enjoy the BBQ that was on.
At 14.46 a large batch was seen approaching the loft and on time, with the winner this week being the Cookstown Sizzlers with one of their fancied entries which had a few shilling on it as well like the rest of their team and take home a nice little earner of £375 in total.
It was nice to see the owner of the pigeon was at the loft and to say that he was over the moon for the victory is an understatement. On chatting to him on the phone he wanted to thank the NCC on the professionalism in the running of the loft and the quickness in which the monies were payed out in the 1st Hotspot. He would also like to tell the Team Captain for Northern Ireland that he's flying the flag well for the charity as this is one of team NI members.
Well the winning pigeon has been racing very well over these last two races as only last week he was just seconds away from winning but this time takes not only victory but is also the early leading contender in the Ace pigeon award.
His breeding is first class and is what you would describe as a who's who in the Section A area. Here in the winners pedigree we see the top three Section A NIPA Fancier of the year in the breeding being none other than Henry McLaughlin of Coalisland with one of his top class Hartogs bred out of his top Blue Devil Hartog hens will the Father is off Mickey Hamilton's number one Van Loon cock that is responsible for hoards of section winners when paired to Karl Murphy's famous Armstrong hen that is dam, gdam and ggdam to over 18 section winners.
This it top class breeding at its best.
Karl would like to thank Henry and Mickey for these truly wonderful lines and his partner Glen Smith that's the other half of the Sizzlers said the chips are on him!

2. In for a Penny. £100
3. Ballbogey Lofts. £75

Weather conditions are reported to be a bit hit and miss at the weekend so keep in check on the two official sites for the NCC for any news, the NCC official site and also Pigeoncraic who we would like to thank once again.
