IN FOR A PENNY TAKES THE MONEY!!
The third hotspot turned out a great success from Mullingar.
The birds were race marked starting from 0500am and were loaded and on the road for 0630am.
The NCC would like to thank all those that were in attendance and for making everything run smoothly.
Once all the birds had been race marked and loaded on the transporter everything was got ready for the days race, after a well earned coffee.
Speaking of coffee if you fancy a good cup of coffee go to Milky Bars House, the coffee in there is first class!!
The birds arrived on site and were watered and rested up for a liberation for 1030.
At the liberation there was a gentle northerly breeze with high broken cloud and good visibility.
The strings were cut at 1030am and the convoy was realised and the race was on.
A nice crowd had gathered at the loft and were enjoying the refreshments and BBQ when someone called out birds!
The excitement and exuberance was there to see and what can only be felt at One Loft Races, when all fanciers who dare to win get to put their best birds against each other for the claim of WHO HAS THE BEST!!
Approaching the loft at great speed and straight out of the south was a small batch of nine birds and right on there tail was a larger batch.
As they approached the loft the place was alive with noise then as they hit the trap you thought someone had turned down the volume button on a remote as everyone were holding their breath in anticipation of their name being called out first.
But there can only be one winner and it went to the loft of In For a Penny.
The winning pigeon had only been bought on the saturday night and just goes to show that its never to late to purchase your entry. You might even be buying the winner of the Grand Final and win the first prize of £12000.
The winning pigeon was a venture bred by Mourneview lofts and is bred off direct Roger Marius stock. These lines are top sprint pigeons in Belgium and at present are winning all over England and Germany.
Result:
1. In For a Penny. £150+£186 pools.
2. Lisa & Robert Callaghan. £100+£131 pools.
3. G McLaughlin Bros. £75
4. Leonard & Greenaway. £50
5. Owen Kirwan. £25+£43.20 pools.
A photo of the winner will be online on Thursday.
The next Hotspot is scheduled for sunday and at present it is again a hit and miss day.
The site will be updated to let everyone know if the Hotspot is on.
In closing the NCC would like to congratulate one of its fanciers Trevor Greenaway on winning the Nipa open at the weekend.
